Madras tunes as a band was formally established in 2007 before which it was known as PRO-TEENS. It took this new look and the band was reformed in this name for “Ooh la la la-The Band Hunt Show”. The band, which comprised of 8 members initially has grown from strength to strength and is currently comprised of 12.
The Journey of the band can be said to have been flagged off by setting a tune for a poem, which was written by our former President of India, “Honorable Sri APJ. ABDUL KALAM”. We performed the same song and sent the recorded performance to Kalam Sir, which was greatly appreciated by him.
Among the other projects done by Madras tunes, we were involved in the album ‘Folk Tunes for Dance’ along with several other leading instrumentalists like Ms.Saroja (Dilruba, Thar Shennai), which was on Indian folk Music like RAAS, SANTAL, BANGRA, KORATHI KUMMI for Dance Maestro Shri. Dhananjayan’s dance show in US. Our band had also been part of music composition for various short films including “Call of the Jungle”(Director:Ashoke), “Appusamiyum Africa Azhagiyum”(Director: Bombay Kannan), “Tom goes to Lab” (directed by Julie for Florida University). Karthikeyamurthy J. (Band Owner) scored the music for all these ventures.
Madras tunes has also composed and performed live, an official song for Yamaha for the “Yamaha R15” bike launch show. The band was also part of a pro bono event for IT-‘EXONARA’ for their energy conservation campaign where they emphasized for electrical conservation on 8/8/8 at 8:08 p.m. (Score composed & written by Vijay Jeyaprakash, Sound Engineer/Keyboard player of the band) and Title music for 72 Melakartha Thalams, 108 thalams by Dr.T.K.Murthy (Score composed & written by Karthikeyamurthy J.).
With such feathers in our cap, we continue to evolve and grow. We are currently working on our latest project… album named “Illaneer”. |

| It’s a dream come true for any musician of our generation to work at Studios, not just because it has some of the best recording equipments in the world, not just because it has some of the world’s best sound engineers there… more on the note that you can get a glimpse of the man who is bridging the gap between east and west and connecting India with the world through his music. When every musician is waiting to get the glimpse of this global hero, we are some of the most privileged people in this world who have had conversation with him and got his guidance on recording. Before meeting him we have been hearing from people that he is a man of simplicity. We did meet him and we were talking with him but we never realized anything, it was just like a conversation with one of our friend. After an hour or so when we came out, we were all taken back by his simplicity. Hats off to you Sir! Thanks to Sa Re Ga Ma who organized the Oh la la la competition and was instrumental in we meeting the great maestro A.R.Rahman Sir and had the unique opportunity to recording at his world famous Studios. |
