| OXYGEN is a fusion band bubbling with the vitality and enthusiasm of youth. We combine the warp of Indian instruments with the weft of Western ones to create vibrant and contemporary patterns of music. We deftly craft together the powerful vocals and threads from a colorful palette of tones and sounds to lend a unique texture. We at Oxygen rely on the skills of the human hand and the imagination of the human mind to design exquisite aural motifs. |

It all started one fine morning when the newspapers screamed, “A.R.Rahman launches Band Hunt” “Ooh La La La”. A flurry of calls and discussions later, we had decided to take part in Ooh La La La, the nationwide band hunt. Being avid A.R. Rahman fans, it was a dream comes true opportunity to participate in a competition judged by him.
Each and every moment right from the auditions to the end of the show was memorable. But we would recall our jamming and grooming sessions for the show as the most enjoyable and educative moments. We would treasure our interaction with musicians like Paul Jacob, John Anthony and V.S.Narasimhan during these sessions.
But the icing on the cake was our gratification for winning the show that is to record an album in A.R.Rahman’s Studios. This was our major driving force through the competition as any musician would know that his studio boasts of some of the best sound equipment and technicians in the world.
The unforgettable moment has got to be the finals of the show, which was judged by the great A.R.Rahman himself. We were quite exalted at getting through to the finals without losing any round. There were totally three bands competing in the finals and each one of us started rigorously preparing for the finals. We arrived at Chettinad Auditorium, not having slept for two days. Quite surprisingly none of us were nervous, we were just looking forward to go there and enjoy ourselves. We gave in our 100%, which lead us to winning the competition along with 5 other bands to be declared winners by A.R.Rahman. |
