Band History :
In May 2007, when Ooh La La La declared that they were on the prowl for the most talented band in the state, two college mates decided to give this a shot. With their goal set to make a mark, Vijay and Aswath soon pulled a few string got in touch with contacts and roped in Nrithya, Prassannaa,
Jerry and Baulin to form Srishti. There were strings and then there was Avial. But Tamil Nadu had still not seen rock in its native form so then came SRISHTI, the Tamil rock band. It was also a necessity to pick rock as a genre to stand apart from the plenty fusion bands in the band hunt. Be it the own comp, the remix, the A R Rahman remix or the folk song our element was ‘rock.’ Although the band was eliminated in the folk round by the respected jury, SRISHTI was hand-picked as one of the six winning bands of the show by A.R Rahman himself, for the social message they brought along with their musical abilities at the end of the show. It was a dream come true for the entire band and a sudden twist in the tale when Srishti was declared winners. The greatest opportunity to meet the academy award winning A.R. Rahman was a big reward for us. |
| Experience |
| Recording at A.M studios was indeed a ‘fabulous’ experience for us which a very few people are blessed with. It was the most surreal experience for ‘Srishti’. With all the excitement we recorded our own composition titled ‘Ondrai Seruvom’, our winning song, live so that the essence of the rock band was brought forth more strongly. We owe our thanks to Paul Jacob for his wonderful guidance. |

| Post Ooh La La La/ Key Achievements: |
We soon went on to play at various city music events such as Underground, Freedom Jam and other pro shows at corporates.
Vijay is also very popular in the field of solo singing. He is one of the finalists of the Airtel super singer contest that has won him several accolades and fans all over the state.
Nrithya has come a long way, owing all recognition to Mr. A.R.Rahman, who awarded her with the opportunity to sing background vocals for the movie JODHA AKBAR as an outcome of Ooh La La La contest. This soon further catapulted her to her first hit song ‘Cheeky Cheeky’ from the movie Saroja.
Jerry freelances as bassist for several bands and also has his own band called ‘Crossroads’.
Prassannaa has been jamming with some of the best bands in the city in instrumental music such as ‘Oshir Musica’, owing much to the exposure he received from the Ooh La La La show.
Baulin has been composing music for shorts films such as “The Perfect Knot.”
Although, the band members are caught up in their individual busy worlds, we stay connected as friends and band mates till date with frequent Jam sessions to share what we love in common, music! |
